Rebekah Brooks rumoured to be keeping her chauffeur driven car
Former News International Chief Executive, Rebekah Brooks, will allegedly keep her chauffeur driven limo, paid for by her former bosses, despite claims on both sides that ties have been severed between the ex News of the World editor and Rupert Murdoch’s media empire.
43-year-old Mrs Brooks resigned from her top job at New International in the wake of the phone hacking scandal this summer. Rebekah Brooks left her position as editor of the Sunday tabloid after allegations emerged that the voicemail of murder victim Millie Dowler was hacked by journalists at the newspaper while was in charge.
However there have been suggestions that the relationship between the former newspaper chief and her old boss is far from over amid claims Rebekah Brooks will keep her editor’s perk of a chauffeur driven car for the next two years.
Despite publically stepping down, there have been reports in the press that Rupert Murdoch plans to find a senior position for Rebekah Brooks once the phone hacking scandal has died down. In the meantime the media mogul has allegedly told her ex editor to take time out and travel the world.
Although reports that the 43-year-old is still on New International’s pay roll are thought to be false, it’s believed she will keep her chauffeur driven car as part of a confidential severance package deal from the company where she worked for 22 years.
Electric cars at Spanish Airports
As part of a Savings Plan, Energy Efficiency and Emissions Reduction, 33 electric cars and vans will be used at Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca and Lanzarote Airports in Spain.
The cars will reduce greenhouse gases and CO2 emissions and will make an estimated saving of €13,000 per annum, being used for airport services on the “air side”. They will be the largest fleet of electric cars used by an airport operator in Europe.
The Spanish Airports Authority has spent more than a million euros for the lease of these vehicles for 3 years enabling the airports to look into the feasibility of electric cars replacing all the conventional vehicles being used. If the results are positive almost all vehicles operating at airports will be electric within 5 to 10 years.
The supply of electricity to the cars will be done at off-peak hours via 53 charging points provided by Endesa.
